9/19/21 – Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody!

Scripture:

We are a holy priesthood (1st Peter 2:5) called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We are each blessed with spiritual gifts (1Corinthians 12:11) to be used to edify Christ and His church (Ephesians 4:1).

g Hi fellow believers! I just lit a candle of unity and set it on my windowsill – a representation of my desire to join with like believers in prayer for this Nation and our World family, for the manifestation of God’s will in our behalf. The idea was introduced to me in a podcast and this is my first day. I am excited to be a part of this call to unified prayer, to be a partaker, an eyewitness to the miraculous power of God. Join with us and know that we are not alone, that we are a mighty swelling force for good, that God hears the prayers of many gathered with purpose before His throne. Light a candle in solidarity at 11:20 am each day and let’s pray into existence an unsurpassed victory for God, Amen!

I am sure you have looked at the title of this blog and puzzled over what I might be thinking. Let me introduce today’s topic by sharing a quote. Pastor Chuck Swindoll once wrote; “This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.”

Let’s pray! Father God, we humble ourselves before You, we ask for the indwelling of Your Spirit, we pray for Your power to answer Your call, we pray for Your strength to surrender our lives as marred and cracked vessels to be emptied of self and filled full and brimming with Your love and Your witness to a sick and dying world. Father imbue us with Your wisdom and understanding as we move forward in obedience to Your call. In Jesus name, Amen!

Pastor Swindoll cleverly worded a neglect practiced by many people from all walks of life, even by those professing to be the children of God. I must confess that I have, at times, shirked my responsibility, passed the buck so to speak. I praise God that we serve a Savior that has never walked the path of neglect with me, but rather, calls me to a higher path to walk with Him.

Everybody, that is part of the body of Christ, has been called by God to carry forth His work in this dark and dying world. Somebody, within a given body of believers, will be gifted with the Spiritual Gifts needed to accomplish a certain task while Everybody lends a supporting hand, acts in a supporting role. Anybody can help with every task appointed by God and Nobody is without purpose no matter the task. AND, at any time, in every event, the body of believers are called to interchangeably fill the roles of Everybody, Somebody, and Anybody – Nobody is left without the call to serve. It takes to full body of Christ to get the job done, to complete the work in which we are called. Until Jesus comes in the clouds of glory, there is a work to be done, there are souls seeking a better way, seeking a way out of the darkness they are trapped within. We, you and me, have been called for such a time as this. (Ester 4:14)

Now is the time to step out in faith, now is the time to answer the call. Go forth and listen for the still soft voice of God to prompt your witness as you go. A kind word here, an act of kindness there, a timely sharing of the Word. Don’t wait for a daily graven invitation, for a burning bush – go, and the Lord will find you where you are. There is no where we can go that God’s Words of hope and love are not needed. Whether to the left or to the right, you will still find a work commissioned by God, a victory wrought by Him, and a “well done My good and faithful servant” when in the clouds of glory He comes to take to our forever home. (Matthew 25:21)

And in all things PRAY! “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayer less study, prayer less work, prayer less religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.” (Samuel Chadwick, a 19th Century Wesleyan minister) “”Daniel would rather spend a night with the lions than miss a day of prayer!” (Anonymous)

Until next blog, be safe, be prayerful, be a surrendered body for Christ! Amen!
