12/19/21 – The Power of Prayer

Scripture

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.   1 John 5:14

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  Jeremiah 29:12

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. – James 5:16

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. – Matthew 21:22

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. – Psalm 5:3

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. – Psalm 42:8

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. – 3 John 1:2

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. – Matthew 26:41

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. -Romans 12:12

Hello everyone! The Christmas season is upon us and many of us are finding things a little difficult, some a lot difficult. I have spent this past week going over the first advent of Jesus through to His crucifixion. It is such powerful story – uplifting, devastating, encouraging, and so full of hope. Through out the story, Jesus was in constant communication with His Father. He taught us the power and necessity for continual communication with our Heavenly Father. But before we get started, I need to ask you all to pray for me. My health has been hit pretty hard since last January and I am not doing well right now. I seem to get past one hurdle just to have another thrown my way.

This is going to be a short blog, so let’s jump right in with prayer. Gracious Heavenly Father, we come humble to You asking that You empower us to do Your will through the influence of Your Holy Spirit Please forgive our transgressions and teach us how to have an effectual prayer life. In Jesus name we pray, Amen!

Samuel Chadwick once said “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayer less study, prayer less work, prayer less religion. He laughs at our toils, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.” Prayer, an active prayer life is essential to our salvation. It was once said of Daniel, “He would rather spend a night in the lions den then miss a day of prayer” (anonymous)

“The power of prayer should not be underestimated. It is a blessing that God allows us the privilege to communicate directly with Him through prayer anytime 24/7 with no appointment necessary. What an amazing gift.”  (LivingChristian.org) It is through prayer, heartfelt sincere prayer, that we are able to reflect Christ to the world. Our prayer connection empowers us in attitude, action and purpose. If Jesus, while upon this earth knew the necessity of a constant prayer life, how much more should we recognize our great need.

Until next blog, I pray God will guide you into a deeper prayer life with Him. Thank you for keeping my health and ministry in your prayers.
